How can I contact someone?

Call  to leave a voice mail or text your question and email address to Melissa at (415)859-7052, or email Melissa@SanFranciscoBayBoatCruise.com. Kevin and Melissa are usually on every voyage so if Melissa doesn’t answer you right away, please be patient. Unless you are calling about an immediate voyage, you will receive a return text, email or call within a day or so.  But not before 9am or after 7pm.

Where is the boat located?

Our vessel, Wine Therapy (formerly the Neptune), is located in San Francisco along the Embarcadero, near Fisherman’s Wharf. The vessel is in the harbor between Pier 39 and Pier 41 at dock gate I (as in IGLOO). Dock gate I (as in IGLOO) is behind building F (near the Pier Market restaurant) along the water on the Golden Gate Bridge (west) side of Pier 39; near the world famous Pier 39 Sea Lions. Gates A, B, C, D, E, F, G are on the opposite side of Pier 39 and are not near “Gate I”. Pier 39 is with the ODD numbered piers along the Embarcadero to the northwest of the Bay Bridge.  Once on Pier 39 wait at dock gate I. Do not check in at the Marina office.

What is the difference between Premium and Standard prices?

Choose what type of wine you want to taste during the cruise. We offer reds and whites, sweet, dry and port.

Premium price: Tasting wines in the $45-$65 range.

Standard price: Tasting wines in the $25-$45 range.

All the wines are selected with care from small family owned wineries. The selection changes every 6 to 8 weeks. Check our homepage to see the wineries.

BEFORE YOU DEPART

PARKING GARAGE AND DRIVING DIRECTIONS:

http://www.pier39.com/home/pier-info/directions-parking/

Parking at Pier 39 can take up to 30 minutes, so please plan accordingly.

GPS may steer you wrong and send you to the EVEN numbered piers near ATT Park and Pier 38 and Pier 40. The EVEN numbered piers are not near Pier 39 or Fisherman’s Wharf area.

Is the boat available for private charters and parties?

Yes. Private charters can be 90-minutes to 3 hours in duration. Our Private Charters tab list the prices. The calendar on the home page list our cruise availability. Click the date you are considering and if it is already reserved for another private charter is will say so. If not, email an estimate for the charter can be sent to you. Email Melissa@SanFranciscoBayBoatCruise.com. Please include the date, time, number of guests, duration of cruise, hosted or cash bar.

Kids welcomed?

Yes. Pay when you book adult tickets. Age 5 and under are free; 6 to 16 are $45; Sunset cruise do not cost less for ages 6 to 16. Children’s price on a sunset cruise is the same as the adult price.  Why? Because sunset cruises sell out and are primarily attended by adults.

If a voyage is sold out, can I still join?

Our vessel has limited space and once we are sold out, there is no room for additional passengers. Occasionally we have no-shows and can add you to a “stand by” list, in the event that someone may cancel or simply not show up at the time of the voyage. Being on the “stand by” list  does not guarantee that you will be able to take the voyage. The decision is ours in consideration of passenger safety and comfort.

Can I buy same day tickets?

Yes you can if the voyage is not sold out. You will receive a confirmation email of the reservation. The confirmation provides the directions to the boat. Our Home page also has a map. We do not mail tickets. Your email confirmation is all you need.

ON YOUR TRIP

How long is a public voyage?

Public voyages are ninety minutes or two hours from start to finish.

What does the price include?

Our public wine tasting on the bay includes the lovely voyage on the bay, four tastes of wine or one beverage or one cocktail  and light snacks (baguettes, crackers, cheeses)   We always have juices, soda and water too.

What route do you take on the bay?

The route that we take is dependent on the prevailing weather  and wind conditions on the bay each and every time we leave the dock. Our Captain takes the safest and most comfortable route for our guests. Some days we go towards the Golden Gate Bridge and around Alcatraz Island. Other days we head towards the City Front, Ferry Building, Bay Bridge and McCovey Cove. On other days we go towards Treasure Island and around and in to the lovely Clipper Cove.

Where are you located?

Our vessel, Wine Therapy (formerly the Neptune), is located in San Francisco along the Embarcadero, near Fisherman’s Wharf. The map on our HOME  page and the maps at Pier 39 show our location in Pier 39. We are located in the water between Pier 39 and Pier 41. Wine Therapy is in the harbor on the Golden Gate Bridge side of Pier 39 at dock gate I (as in IGLOO). We are in the water  just behind building F. If you walk along the causeway towards the Sea Lions, you will pass by our gate I. Gates A, B, C, D, E, F, G are on the opposite side of Pier 39 and are not near “Gate I”.

Other Questions

No, outside alcohol may not be brought aboard.

Do the snacks cost extra?

No, they are complimentary.

What kind of light snacks to you offer?

Included with your purchase are light snacks (baguettes, crackers, assorted cheeses).

What kind of wine do you have?

The wine selection changes about every six weeks. We search out small California wineries to feature. We offer a wide selection of varietals. The winemakers are the experts who recommend the wines that we carry. The list of wineries is on our homepage.

How many tastes do I get?

You will taste four wines. The tastings are the equivalent of a full glass of wine.

Can I buy other drinks?

Yes, we have a bar for you to purchase drinks. Cash or credit cards accepted.

Can I buy a drink after I finish my tastings?

Absolutely

What if my companion doesn't drink alcohol or like wine?

We offer beer, cocktails, water, juices and sodas for them, along with a lovely boat ride and great scenery. The price is the same.

When do we taste the wines?

As soon as you board you will have a glass in hand and then throughout the voyage.

What do the voyage names mean?

The different names for the voyages are just because Melissa and Kevin try to be clever. Every voyage includes the bay cruise, wine or beer tasting, the snacks, good company and a good time. Sunset is just sunset. We like Wine Therapy because it sounds like something some of us need on occasion. If you have any ideas for naming our voyages we’d love to hear them!
If a voyage is named “Private”, it means that time has been booked by a private party and you can not join the cruise, unless you are part of that private group. Public cruises are open to anyone.

I have a coupon/voucher/gift certificate, how do I book a voyage?

You have a coupon code. 72 hours after you purchase your coupon/voucher/gift certificate, the coupon code will be activated in our system. It will not be activated until 72 hours after you purchase it, so be patient and a few days after you purchase it you can book your tickets.  We need to enter your codes into our system in order for you to book your tickets and that takes a bit of time…about 72 hours.

What should I wear?

Wear whatever makes you the most comfortable. It can be windy and chilly all year around on our bay, so layers are usually best.

Is there a bathroom on the boat?

Yes.

What if it rains, do you still go out?

Yes, our inside cabin is warm and cozy and the benches all around the outside are under a canopy so you can stay inside or outside.

What if it is very windy, do you still go out?

Yes we do unless the winds reach a dangerous velocity. We will contact you to cancel and refund or reschedule if that should happen. Your email and cell phone number are very important for this reason.

What if there are fewer than 10 guests and the voyage is cancelled?

You will receive an email and a phone call or text notifying you of the cancellation a few days before the voyage. Your email and cell phone number are very important for this reason.

How do you decide on the dates for the voyages?

We generally offer  public voyages on the weekends. Although if a weekend is listed as reserved for a private charter it is reserved by a private group having a birthday party, bridal party, company party, wedding reception or other fun event.

After I buy my tickets, will you send me something else?

No, we will not mail tickets to you. Once you purchase your ticket, the receipt that you receive via email is all that you need. It has directions to the dock, boarding instructions and your purchase information.

Why do you need my email and cell phone number when I purchase the tickets?

Your email enables the receipt to be sent to you. It has directions to the dock, boarding instructions and your purchase information. Your cell phone number is necessary for me to call  or text you in the event of changes to the voyage.

Do I need to print and bring the receipt with me to get on to the boat?

No, we will have you listed on the passenger list. You may want to print it so that you have the directions to the boat in hand so that you don’t get lost.

Can I taxi or BART to Pier 39?

Yes. From Bart: the F Line trolly stops right in front of Pier 39. Taxi/ Uber: Have them drop you in front of Pier 39. Either way, walk towards the “Only In San Francisco” store. Go behind the store around to the left, along the causeway/water and look for Gate I (as in IGLOO). Look in the water for the Wine Therapy  vessel. The gate and ramp down to the water will be on your left.

Where should I park?

Pier 39 has a large parking garage directly across the street from our harbor. The Anchorage garage is nearby too. Expect to pay about $45 to park at Fisherman’s Wharf. Once you arrive at the garage, it can take up to 30 minutes to park, so please plan accordingly. We do not validate (we tried to set this up, but the Pier only allows restaurants and stores to validate parking.)

Can I book your boat for a private party?

How many people do you take on the voyages?

We take up to about 24 on the public and 30 on the private cruises.

Are my tickets transferable?

Yes. We have your name on our passenger list so you can have your replacement give us your name at the gate. Or you can text or email us and give us the name(s) of the people who will join us in your place and we will put their names on the passenger list.

What is the cancellation policy?

Our policy is that if you cancel 48 hours or more prior to your voyage, you receive a full refund. If you need to cancel and reschedule we are happy to help you do so. When you purchase your tickets, you click the “I Agree” button which is where the cancellation policy is listed. We want each one of you to enjoy our voyages so we work very hard to accommodate you and the changes that you need to make.

If I miss the boat or cancel that day can I get a refund?

No, we do not issue refunds for same day cancellations or no-shows. If you call  more than one hour prior to departure and let me know that you can’t come we  will try to reschedule you.  When you buy your tickets, we hold your space and often turn away other passengers, so be sure to text or email or call and let Melissa know if you need to change. You have two chances to reschedule.

If I am late, miss the boat, can't find the gate or the boat will you wait for me?

In consideration of guests who arrive on time, we are not able to wait more than five minutes for late passengers.

When I arrive at the gate, can I get right on to the boat?

We board all passengers at the same time. About five minutes prior to departure.

When I arrive at the gate, why is it locked?

Pier 39 security requires that we board our passengers ourselves and monitor who is on the docks. We will come up and board everyone five minutes prior to departure.
